Over the past 10 years, the university has undergone a £100 million transformation, with facilities including a design studio, editing suites and music rooms. York is home to around 20,000 students and is one of Europe's top tourist destinations, with good transport links.

2012-15 has been a period of growth, success and increased external recognition for the University. Its profile in the higher education sector is increasing through successes and  growing reputation for effective leadership and management of the University.It has worked hard on enhancing courses, facilities, academic standards, and governance and management.

Working closely with  Governors and staff across the University, it has developed an ambitious and exciting Strategic Plan for 2015-20. It is a framework that enables them to collate, understand, prioritise and monitor progress towards key objectives. Through its implementation, it will position the University to deal with turbulence in the higher education sector and to continue to offer excellent learning opportunities for all their students and staff.

English Language Requirements

·        If English is not the student's first language, IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each area or equivalent is required. More information is available on the university's website.

Admission Requirement*:

UG: Our minimum entry requirements are as follows:
      •4 academic subjects with average of 65%, (or CBSE average of 60%)

PG: •3 year Bachelor Degree with 55% or more overall (52% from Mumbai or Delhi) OR 4 year Bachelor         Degree with 50% or more overall OR CGPA 6.0 out of 10.0 (depending on University)

Accommodation for International Students

·        All first year international students are guaranteed university accommodation if they apply for it before the deadline.

·        University accommodation offers one catered option and four self-catered options.There is internet access in all university residences.

·        International students are spread throughout the residences, rather than clustered together.

·        All university residences are a maximum of 15 minutes walk from the campus.

·        Students have to move out during vacations in one residence, but not in the others.

10% discount is applicable to all York St John University Alumni undertaking postgraduate level study. The 10% discount is in addition to any other discount or waiver you are awarded by the university and is applied before any other discount is considered.
