The University of Chichester is a public university located in West Sussex, England which became a university in 2005. Campuses are based in the city of Chichester and the nearby coastal resort of Bognor Regis and an associate campus for music production on the Isle of Wight.

Key statistics

It is this mix of old and new that defines the university, with modern accommodation buildings and advanced facilities sharing a campus with 18th century manor houses and parks.  It is one of the smallest universities in the UK, with just over 5,000 students. The university feels accessible and integrated, You don't have to go anywhere to enjoy the benign climate. The university maintains some very modern academic and social areas on campus, such as advanced sports arenas and gyms, modern film-making and media facilities and modern accommodation. The main campus also has easy motorway routes to larger cities such as Portsmouth, Worthing and Brighton.

The smaller Bognor Regis campus is mainly used for academic study, and includes both business and learning resource centres. Student life at the University doesn’t just revolve around the facilities on campus, however. Accessible transport links into the city of Chichester allow students to easily make use of the nightlife and cultural centre of the city, as well as allowing easy access to the coast with its seaside towns and beaches.The University of Chichester is relatively small, but despite this offers a good range of subjects for study, both undergraduate and postgraduate. They must be doing something right - as well as good graduate employment rates, Chichester has an excellent student satisfaction rating and some of the best retention rates in the country.

IELTS Requirements:

  • Undergraduate: IELTS 6.0 overall with no component less than 5.5 (or equivalent)

  • Postgraduate: IELTS 6.5 overall with no component less than 6.0 (or equivalent)

Undergraduate requirements

Higher Secondary School Certificate  Standard VII from Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) and Metro State Boards (Delhi, Maharashtra, Chennai, Kolkata and Karnataka) Minimum 65%.

Post graduate requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts / Science / Commerce (3 year programme) from a central university, recognised state university or a centre of advanced

  • study– Minimum 60%

  • Honours/Special degree Minimum 58%

  • 4 year professional degree Minimum 50%

Entry requirements full mphil/ phd registration

The standard requirement for an MPhil/PhD is a first or upper-second honours degree and/or usually a relevant Master's degree. Candidates with other qualifications are considered individually on their merits. All students are interviewed by their potential supervisor(s) and a Research Degree Coordinator or nominated other.

 

Student Accommodation

  • First year students are guaranteed a room in Halls of Residence providing they apply through UCAS on time and make Chichester their first choice.

  • There are a variety of halls of residence and houses on or near the university’s 2 campuses.

  • The Bishop Otter Campus in Chichester has 449 single study bedrooms on campus (225 standard); the Bognor Regis campus has 229 rooms; and there are a further 392 rooms off-site.

The decision to award a scholarship is based on demonstration of a mixture of academic merit (including English language ability) and other merit or outstanding achievement in a particular field of activity, such as professional work based achievements or significant contributions to your community and society. The university proposes different scholarships every year in different courses.
